About Tim Ford
Tim Ford was born and raised in New Jersey,
and earned his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University.
He joined the US Navy and served as a helicopter pilot
flying the CH-53E in cargo support roles.
After completing his service with an honorable discharge,
he attended and received a Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga
University School of Law in Spokane.
Mr. Ford presently works in the Washington
State Office of the Attorney General and was appointed Deputy
Solicitor General in 2005.
He assisted with appellate review of diverse cases,
drafted Attorney General Opinions, drafted and litigated ballot
titles, and participated in appellate mock trials.
Mr. Ford was promoted to Open Government Ombudsman in
2007, serves as co-chair on the Public Records Exemptions
Accountability Committee, co-chair of the Attorney General’s
Eminent Domain Task Force, and assists the public and agencies
with questions, training, policy, and compliance with the Public
Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act.
Prior to joining the Attorney General’s
Office, Mr. Ford was association counsel for the Building Industry
Association of Washington.
In that capacity, he practiced in the areas of
constitutional law, initiative and referendum law, public
disclosure law; administrative and regulatory law, and land use
law.
Mr.
Ford has argued at the Washington State Supreme Court, appellate
court, and trial courts.
Mr. Ford lives in
Tumwater with his wife Sonya
and daughter Megan.
